The long-awaited PURU Transgascogne offshore sailing regatta of the Mini 6.50 Class is ready to set sail in a few weeks, taking the bravest sailors on an exciting adventure through the Bay of Biscay. With a legacy of more than three decades, this prestigious competition continues to attract sailors from all over the world in search of unique challenges and thrills at sea.
The PURU Transgascogne Regatta, which already visited us for the first time in 2021, will return from July 24 to 28, 2023, and will feature the participation of expert sailors who will compete on their small but powerful Mini 6.50 Class sailboats. These boats, only 6.50 meters long, represent the maximum expression of solo and double-handed sailing in oceanic waters.

In this year's edition, in the Prototypes category we have as favorite the sailor from Port de la Selva (Girona), Carlos Manera, who has had a spectacular season full of victories and podiums with his Xucla boat equipped with the latest generation foils. His main rivals will be the French Jacques Delcroix, the Uruguayan Federico Walksman and the French Laure Galley. In the Series category it will be the French Hugues de Premare, the Spanish-Belgian sailor Djemila Tassin and the Swiss Felix Oberle, who will fight for victory.
These types of mini 6.50 boats are characterized, among other things, by allowing men and women to compete equally.
From Port Bourgenay to Getxo and back.
The event will begin in the town of Port Bourgenay, on the west coast of France, and will take participants through a demanding course of approximately 620 nautical miles. They will face a series of challenges, including changing weather conditions, unpredictable currents and the tireless fight against exhaustion as they try to reach the finish line at the Getxo Marina.
The PURU Transgascogne Regatta is known for its technical demands and its ability to test the skills and stamina of the sailing team. The competition is divided into two stages, providing the participants with the opportunity to rest and repair any damage to their boats before facing the challenges of the second stage, in addition to enjoying what Getxo and Bizkaia can offer in this case. from the cultural, tourist and gastronomic point of view.
